5 Autumn must haves

So, Autumn is here and to be honest, I am not to happy about it. Luckily, September usually has a pretty great ‘after-summer’, as we Dutchies call it. The weather gets a little bit colder, so that means: new (warmer) clothes to add to my wardrobe. (Althought, I’m not ready to give up bare legs this month yet, he he.)
My first Autumn staple are blouses. For me a blouse is a perfect mean value between a nice summery top and a heavy sweater. A blouse will cover up your arms so they will still be warm, while it still is cute and floaty and doesn’t have such a heavy appearance as a sweater.

My second Autumn staple are shorts, skirts and skorts. As I said before, in September I’m definitely not ready to give up bare legs yet and since my arms are already covered up with a blouse, I think I still can go out with bare legs. Also, as long as the temperature doesn’t drop below 18 degrees, I am happy to be a little bit cold if that means I can still go out bare legged.

Since my legs are out, I do think I need to cover up my feet. So that means you need closed shoes. I love a pair of brown leather chelsea boots, or a nice pair of white heeled shoes to wear with my blouse and shorts.

The next thing that gets worn so much starting this time of the year is a pretty scarf. I love my Burberry cashmere scarf that I bought in Paris last May. I have mine in pink, which for me is a neutral colour so it goes with everything in my closet. This makes it so wearable for me and, although it has not been really cold since May, I have worn it so much already.

The last staple is a fedora. People always say that when your head is warm, you can practically go out in your bikini, because when your head is warm, your whole body is warm. Well, this is the reason a fedora works perfectly to keep you warm during the fall. I have a very lovely fedora from Ted Baker that I bought last Autumn and I have worn it so often. I totally love the look of an outfit when a hat is added and an outfit with a fedora added gives a little bit of a ‘Jenny Humphrey during the game of assassin’ kind of look, which is so lovely.

I hope you loved this post as much as I loved writing it and I hope you can survive the fall with cute outfits while still being a little bit warm.
Love, Renske
